It’s possible Conroy’s ask for Andersson was too high, either because he overvalues him or because he wasn’t really interested in moving him. This deadline was a seller’s market - Brandon Carlo returned Minten and a 1st. You have to think Conroy could have gotten more than that for Andersson if he was genuinely motivated to deal him.
‘Set a price and wait until someone meets it’ sounds good on fan boards. But that’s now how markets work. If no buyer in the market meets your price, that means it’s too high. As my old economics teacher explained, the only mechanism we have for determining the value of something is how much people are willing to pay for it.
