This is a good point but it depends on the kid. If they can manage the bigger hand opening, particularly if it has a strap as described above, then the bigger one will last longer. Nothing worse than trying to get a teenager to change something they have had for years.

As to Locke's post, I agree completely. I meant to come back to this and add it so thanks. You should ALWAYS have a ball in the glove when you are not using it. A velcro strap is ideal for this as the kid can do it.

If you watch the video and any of the multitudes out there, the pros use a mallet looking wood 'hammer' to break down the fibre in the glove. This is pretty hardcore and I would think only for the advanced players. You will see in the video that that breaking down the area around the heel of the glove is the most important part.
