Everyone thinks this is some quick switch, but it isn't. It would take years to wean ourselves off the American economy. Anyone here thinking it'll be otherwise is pretty bloody naive.

You also seem to be as ignorant to fall for the stupidity of 'Canadian auto manufacturing' that will somehow manage to NOT sell to the US.

Zero car manufacturers are going to invest a single dime into the Canadian economy if they can't produce here and sell to the US to take advantage of the dollar.
Who said anything about short term? This would indeed take a decade to unfold. But, we are not the ones choosing to start this, we just have to choose to find a solid path out on the other end.

What is that abortion of a second rick bell paragraph you have going on there? You do know we have other trading partners right? We touch 2 oceans. We can put things on boats and deliver them anywhere. If the assets are distressed pre sale, and canadian companies/ entrepreneurs can found new companies to pick them up (as you may have read in my post), that's will create a potential capital cost advantage. If we also have low cost steal that's now available in market because american customers can't access it, you have another potential price lever.

We don't have to be beholden to the dollar, it's just been easier. We need to stop taking the easy past. This is a defeatist attitude.
