This kind of reminds me of the complaints about the drop back pass on the powerplay everyone voiced a few years ago. They acted like the Flames were badly coached for doing that when pretty much every single team uses that play.

It's cool that it is evolving from a defensive lineman position to a Quarterback position in a short time. That's why Landon Dupont is intriguing, he was always that way drove offence more than anyone but was always first back, he could have been double the points growing up but Micki made him prioritize being back and distributing the puck even if it was give and go get to a to a frozen turd.
It's just bizarre that now all the youth prospect defenders are becoming like this. Why was there this massive black hole between Bobby Orr and now. No one remembered Bobby Orr?
Were all youth coaches, forward dad meatheads who demanded to "play the right way"? (probably). My kid was so terrified to make a mistake offensively that he never tried.
I can think of three prominent recent Calgary dmen draft picks who's dads were their coaches and had to fend off mutiny's about there selfish kids because they let them play a little freestyle. You can have 10 garbage games as a forward and no one cares, one in a row at defence and there are major problems.
