That sounds great in theory but it's really not practical because even if you attract these researchers and scientists you need to provide them with funding and facilities so that they can continue with their work. We don't necessarily have excess capacity in those critical facilities and making more space is not something that happens overnight. Not to mention that there might be additional complications with credentials and licensing just to get these people up and running here in Canada.

Also, don't we already have a sizable talent pool of skilled immigrants who have come here over the years but are working as drivers or in fulfillment centres or other such jobs? Can't we put the existing pool to work instead of trying to persuade Americans to come here?
