It sure seems that Rogers is willing to spend a near unlimited amount. Wouldn't this contract show they are even more so?

The Jays are 5th in the majors in salary and tried actively to spend even more then they did in the offseason.

Is 35 million a season for Vlad in 2033 when the Jays are spending (guestimating) $350 million really that big of a deal?

You use Vernon Wells as an example - He was making $18mil a season (average) for the Jays starting in 2009.

In 2010 the Jays team salary was 77 million. Wells made up 16 million of that (20%)

Next year assuming the Jays kept a payroll around $250 million and Vlad got the rumored deal his average would be ~35million $ - That's 14% of the payroll.

And dont forget we still managed to trade Wells eventually despite the contract.
