I wouldn't say it's a "safe assumption". Sohi has a low approval rating in Edmonton, and is generally disliked. It's unlikely he would have won a re-election. Tim Uppal is well liked and has held that riding in four of the last five elections. The only time he lost was by a mere 92 votes to Sohi back in 2015. I doubt Sohi would take his previous riding (Edmonton Millwoods) back.
