The major awards are clustered in a handful of teams with superstars, which skews the average to the high end. Teams with superstars typically draft them with top 3 picks (which the Flames have not had)*. Take Ovechkin, Crosby, Hedman, etc. out of the totals, and almost every team has 1-3 major awards in that span.
As much as some fans love to indulge in a persecution complex, there’s no bias against the Flames.
* Since the 2005 lockout, 16 of the 19 Hart trophies have gone to players drafted #1-3 overall.
