It’s weird that there is no way to throttle or handle situations like Twitter. They’ve managed to make it so nobody is responsible for what is being said.

The original idea was that this was supposed to be like a few people having a discussion in a pub or coffee shop, and having no limits on that type of speech is reasonable.

But when tweets have much bigger reach than mainstream news than the concept that there are no repercussions doesn’t seem reasonable.

And when the tweets seem like direct propaganda designed to destabilize a country it seems like something that should be avoided.

I don’t know if I favour shutting down Twitter altogether for Canadians. But it seems that if we want to give twitter access to operate in Canada they need to be held to the same requirements of a media company.

Simple things like restricting the distribution of misinformation and propaganda shown to Canadians by any large account would be a start.
