It’s strange how some coaches get so enamoured wit certain players. No matter how they poor play, they rarely get benched. For Huska - that’s Rooney and Sharangovich. To be fair, Rooney had a good game tonight.
The flame have been to overtime 2 in the last week and Coronato has gotten a total of 30 seconds of overtime shifts. But Sharangovich is getting multiple shifts in OT.
The shootout choices were strange too. Kadri scored a beautiful goal on a deke in the game yet isn’t one of the shooters? I know lots of coaches simply go by results in practices when guys do some shootout drills but I’m not a big fan of that. I prefer to keep it simple. Whoever is playing the best (offensively) lately - i.e. scoring goals - should shoot. Go with the hot stick. I remember during the last of the iginla years, the flames were fighting tooth and nail to make the playoffs and Iginla was ona crazy scoring streak. Was on something like a 9-10 game goal streak. And they went to a shootout in a must win game but the coach didn’t have him as a shooter. It was unreal. Whether they are good in shootouts or not, go with the hot hand.
