Saw the movie tonight. Pales in comparison to the 1986 animated movie in terms of energy and creativity and direction.
1st half - OH YEAH! 2nd half - bleeercgh. It was like the dance of sharpening knives and random shrapnel and rocks filling the screen for about 1 hour continously. Just a cacophany of horrible sound effects (knives sharpening overused and overused) and shots where you can't tell what's going on. Prime and all the other Autobots look like orangutans since they have to use a mouth because stupid hollywood execs wanted them to "emote". All the robots have zero personality, mismatched indistinct voices that all sound exactly the same, and are just cannon-fodder. Finally, the soundtrack was attrocious. Might as well have been generic direct-to-video sci-fi B movie generic orchestrated music. Snooze fest. The only good part was when Bumblebee was helping Sam with Megan Fox (blistering hot) and played some Cars (Drive) and Player (Baby Come Back).
The human story of Sam Witwicky and his highschool life, his parents, the girl, everything was done amazingly. I almost wish that part was an entirely different movie. The early part where the Decepticons were just an unknown to the army was also great. A lot of great shots of the military, etc. Once Prime and his stupid mouth walked into the picture, the movie was ruined. Don't like the mechanical designs, it's just so busy you can't tell what's going on.
