The pointless what-if to me is "what if the Flames drafted Vasilevskiy"? The Giordano as captain era, 80 percent of the Gaudreau era, the Flames didn't have a solid netminder.
Rebuild timing wise, that would've been a perfect pick.

Yes. That was their plan. Even though he was ranked in the 40s. Apparently they were worried about one other club who was interested in him.
Vasilevsky would have been fine on the Flames. But also Hertl, Teravainen or Wilson would have been nice.
