How often does that happen?

I know that it occasionally does and there is a big news story about it but I don't think it is a big enough issue to justify the outrage and the discrimination that goes along with it. Also the truth is that women's sports are significantly less profitable so there isn't any purpose to someone pretending to be trans in the McDavid hypothetical, because why would anyone do that.

The simple fact is that this is being used as a wedge issue to justify how ####ty a group of people can be treated. Trans people are more likely to be the victims, the victims of discrimination, to be the victims of murder, sexual assault and violence... The fact that isn't being discussed but the focus is on the very slim chance that a random transgendered person will have the chance to win a medal in a sporting event seems to be a stark indication of where our values are as a society.

It sucks that the only time women's sports seems to be highlighted is when it is used as a tool to discriminate against another group.
