I can see trying to build a competitve culture I suppose. The longer they are in the hunt for the playoffs the more drive the vets will have.
But none of Kadri, Huberdeau, Andersson, or Coleman will be contributing when this team is good again. Feels like 3 of those guys could have earned us above average returns.

Huberdeau is retiring a Flame - there’s no moving a buyout proof deal thats almost entirely signing bonuses that have yet to be paid.
Nobody traded for anyone with 4 years/$28M remaining yesterday - it will be much easier to make that trade in the summer.
Unless a shark bites his leg off, Andersson is going to have astronomically high value whenever it comes time to do a deal. Whether that’s the draft, mid-season or TDL 2026 - I would expect something resembling the Lindholm trade as a return.
Coleman has two years left after this. They’ll move him when they move him.
If they sold them now, they’d destroy so much of what they’ve built, and what this franchise and fanbase don’t need is another gut punch.
