Buying Canadian/Boycotting US Goods
I know this is a little redundant with the tariff thread but I figured it warrant its own separate discussion.
Anyone have some suggestions on the easiest ways to buy Canadian? What’s everyone’s plan on where they’ll draw the line and how they’ll help support Canadian companies?
Most of the grocery stores around me have put up a little flags on the shelves but I’ve been led to believe that that can be misleading depending on where it was produced or packaged versus whether or not the contents are Canadian etc.
Any good resources to find Canadian alternatives?
Curious to see what advice CPers have for things that they plan on buying Canadian or boycotting American. Obviously there’s a limit. I am unlikely to completely stop consuming American media be it tv shows or movies or music. It would be very difficult to stop consuming American sports. And both of those are complicated because many of them are produced in Canada or involved Canadian athletes/Canadian teams.
I know I’ll be avoiding American travel as much as possible. Even that has its limitations. I have a trip planned for the fall, and while it’s only a two-day trip that I booked prior to the tariffs, I still feel a little bit of patriotic pressure to cancel it.
There’s also a financial aspect to all of this. Obviously people who have more disposable income will be able to more easily absorb the potential additional costs that involve buying Canadian.
