That's the thing. Swapping Kuzmenko for Farabee, at a time when the team isn't in contention and has a zillion bucks in cap space, turns a dead loss into a decent gamble. Kuzmenko has produced a few points in Philly, but he's an expiring asset and might not even stay in the NHL beyond this season.
I think the other assets in the deal represent approximately fair value – a 2nd and a 7th to convert Pelletier into Frost – so I can look at Farabee vs. Kuzmenko in isolation.
