Imagine a poster that is only happy when the team is losing and wants them to be bad for like the next decade telling me I have the worst takes on the forum lol.
The Kings were bottom 2(2012) and, bottom 6(2014) offence for their 2 cups, so they're not far off from the Flames in that regard. That said, I think they were the exception and not the rule in years when the NHL as a whole had less scoring(2.67 goals per team per game vs. 3.08 over the last 3 seasons).

The Flames are a bit short in star power compared to those Kings teams that had 8 players that played in all-star games:
Quick was a top 3 goalie in those years, Wolf isn't there yet, but I'll give you that one:
  • Conn Smythe(2012)
  • Jennings Trophy(2014, 2018)
  • Vezina Trophy Finalist(2012)
  • NHL All-Star(2012, 2016, 2018)

Doughty was already 3rd in D-scoring in his somophere season in 2010, and was a Norris finalist, we don't have that in Weegar, maybe Parekh will come close:
  • Norris Trophy (2016)
  • Norris Trophy Finalist(3rd in 2010, 2nd in 2015)
  • NHL All-Rookie Team (2009)
  • NHL All-Star (2010, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019)
  • Olympic All-Star Team (2014)

Kopitar, was and still is one of the best shut down centres in the NHL. Backlund isn't anywhere near that, and the Flames don't have that player in their system.
  • Selke Trophy (2016, 2018)
  • Lady Byng Trophy (2016, 2023)
  • NHL All-Star (2008, 2011, 2015, 2018, 2020)
  • Messier Award (2022)

Gaborik - 3 x 40G scorer 4 x 30G scorer and one of the top offensive wingers in the NHL, that had trouble staying healthy.
  • NHL All-Star (2003, 2008, 2012)

J. Williams - 3 cups, A couple of 30G seasons prior to the Kings
  • Conn-Smythe (2014)
  • NHL All-Star (2007)

Brown - I could see Kadri filling a similar role.
  • NHL All-Star (2009)
  • King Clancy nominations (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013)
  • Messier Award (2014)
  • Foundation Player Award (2011)

HM: Mike Richards(All-Star in 2008), Jeff Carter(All-Star in 2009, 2017), Willie Mitchel that was a very good D-men towards the end of his career, Regehr was solid for them in 2014.

My point is that the Flames need to find a way to find a couple more stars, hopefully they can do it picking outside of the top 10. They also need to get a couple more solid D like Regehr, Mitchell, and Martinez to play that brand of hockey.
