It's worked out wonderfully for Vegas in hindsight, but there was a ton of risk there and it could of easily blown up.
If we want to trade for a young PPG+ #1 center, we're going to need to eat ALOT of risk. Teams don't give these players up unless there's an issue.
I don't know if the flames should do it. I guess like everything else it comes down to price.
If you could realistically get him fairly cheap, I think you take the risk.

Eichel was injured, and his play didn't fall off a cliff. If the disc came out they would probably just fuse him.
Pettersson is a headcase not an injury issue. I want zero parts of a player who takes zero accountability for his crappy play, and I think Conroy probably feels the same way. When you look at Kadris comment about not wanting losers, well getting Pettersson would be doing just that.
