McDavid's game is all around his speed with the puck, he is fast without the puck, but the things he can do with the puck at that speed is what sets him above the majority of players.
I actually don't think McDavid's hockey IQ is off the charts, which is what has kept Crosby relevant. Even though Crosby has slowed down, he thinks the game at an elite level and still makes plays, he drives the net, gets production from the dirty areas. All of which are not a part of McDavid's game.
McDavid's speed appears to be starting to decline, which is bringing down his overall effectiveness. This could be due to an injury, but as mentioned he plays more than any forward and time could just be taking its toll. If McDavid loses his speed he will become a mediocre player.

Instead of them going on a massive win streak, maybe this one will keep the losing streak going so they fall out of the playoffs!
