Tommy’s opinion on the red card vs Pumas:

- “in modern day football, it’s a red card”
- also went on to say because replays can slow things down so much, it looks much worse

He and I both agreed, and this is where I dislike the “modern day football”, that what was he supposed to do? He was going for the ball and his NATURAL follow through made contact. If he was going for a tackle and followed through with studs, that’s a different story, but what are players supposed to do? Not go for the ball in fear that even if you win it (which he did), you could still be called for a foul or worse in this case?

As a CB myself, that one really irks me…incidental contact happens, and should be allowed to happen (within reason).
