Like many in this thread, I did a ton of research before replacing an old set of front load Samsungs and landed on LG. They've been great, but I think going top load is a completely different proposition.
I had a very basic set of the cheapest white Whirlpool appliances at my old place that will probably run forever. If you are willing to spend a fair amount, everyone online swears by Speed Queen. They seem like a no-frills, commercial grade appliance.
