With a rising cap his $4.3M salary for 5 more years is not prohibitive at all even if it's just a 3rd pairing role, and gives a piece that can help the young RH shots like Parekh, Brzstewicz, etc as they join the team.
Him and Bahl would give you two reliable, big dmen on the LH side that can help the younger guys adjust. And both only turn 25 this year.
Would people give Bahl 5 x $4.3M right now - if the answer is yes then there should be no issue trading for Samuelsson.

Still seems super wasteful to take on a bad contract to get Krebs. Maybe if they attach some picks, but that doesn't seem realistic anymore.
