Hitler was making pretty good deals in the 20s and 30s to get Germany back after WWI, taking back "German" lands and getting gold and minerals from Romania etc... loans from the US etc...
If he had stopped at the Sudetenland, he would have been viewed as normal. Taking the rest of Czechoslovakia and then Poland showed his madness.
