Totally insane.

IMO this is part of the tactic. People have been talking about republican projection for a long time, but I think it's some sort of strange reverse projection to make it seem acceptable, i.e.:

1. While in opposition, accuse those in power of something untrue that scrapes the realm of possibility, but also targets fear and revulsion as emotions. In this case, a dark, shadowy billionaire pulling the puppet strings behind the power and running nefarious things like a child paedophilia ring at the highest levels of power. But also election interference is a good example- they claimed that biden suppressed votes in specific jurisdictions and rigged digital voting machines.

- This conditions your supporters, the only people who believe this nonsense, to actually come around to the idea that shadowy billionaires pulling the strings behind power is real and normal, even if you don't believe the deeper conspiracies. Or that suppressing votes and gerrymandering is a regular, partisan activity that is expected of those in power.

2. You start doing the "lesser" of the conspiracy theories that you put out as accusations in step 1 behind the scenes.

- this is to start acquiring the perceived advantages that the accused action allows for. At this stage your followers are probably unaware you're doing the same thing, because you have them angry and afraid about the other guys.

3. When you gain power, you pull the lesser things out of the shadows. The billionaires come out and are front and centre.

- This is like cold shocking the steel, you're quenching the anger of your supporters and galvanizing them against the opposition, who will undoubtedly now point at your bare corruption as an exact example of what you were accusing. However, this adds to the galvanization, as opposition now reminds your supporters that they were accused of the same, increasing their view of the normalcy of the corruption.
