Although the final result was disappointing, I am proud that they went there and gave it a go. I think that the red card was harsh, but I can also see why it was given. VAR can be helpful (Trafford), but when you freeze frame split-second actions, they tend to look far worse. There was no malice and he got a touch on the ball. To me, that's different than a cynical studs up tackle, no ball, etc. but they are judged the same when viewing it frame by frame. It would've been nice to see how the tactics played out as planned vs. having to play a man down for most of the game.
Carducci was on his game (and he had to be). They were always going to have to soak up the pressure, and even more when they went a man down. Considering the circumstances they were given, and the gap between the club on paper, they should feel proud of the effort.
