2002 was more important overall, but I think 2010 is more vividly remembered by a lot of people.
I think if Canada had lost that OT in 2010, it would have been more crushing than a loss in the 2002 gold medal game.

Your 2nd point kinda invalidates your argument because Canada was a disaster in 1998 AND 1996, and for 50 straight years before that.
