The interesting thing is that it appears that all of the soundbites from the federal leaders in that short clip have come to pass in some way or another:
-Mulroney discussing new wealth creation is spot on, a big reason why the Trump tariffs are so threatening to the economy is that they would undo some of that very wealth created through free trade. Since that agreement Canada became a 'trading' nation not just with the US but with the entire world.
-Turner mused that this could threaten the whole underpinning of the country. Clearly growing more reliant and building an export to the US economy has created the vulnerability where the US can threaten the economic viability of Canada itself.
- Ed Broadbent highlighted how the agreement would remove a lot of the power away domestically. Very true, we're only here talking about this because of who got elected in Washington in November without a change in Ottawa.
