That may be their plan, but I don't think there's enough pro-regressive, right-winged nutjubs laying dormant up here to create the same situation as we've seen south of us. America has a much larger Trump-prone population (we'll put it nicely). That same crowd north of the border made their showing during the latter stages of COVID and while they were loud, they were a minority. Unfortunately we have a much larger concentration in this province, but even some of them have made a heel turn after the threats on Canada.
I still think Trump makes too many enemies at home in this 4 year term as they learn the hard way the reality of what they voted for (the economic war will hurt both ways), and his administration will take enough blame that he'll be gone, one way or another.
4 years won't be enough to transform this country into what the US has become. I think it will enliven a sense of patriotism and solidarity in people here that's been absent for years.
I see us more likely to band together and push to create long term solutions economically so that we don't land in this same position of vulnerability.
I think you're catastrophizing a bit and I don't blame you. There is a lot of uncertainty.
