Canadians should operate based on the following assumptions.
1. Trump is not leaving office until he dies. After death, power will transfer to Vance or his kids, or whoever the Republican establishment wants at that time.
2. Democracy in the US is just about done.
3. He’s going to try and annex Canada, 100%
4. Nobody- inclusive of NATO, is coming to help us in an armed conflict or takeover
5. Our country’s survival depends on very quickly establishing the sale of our resources to global partners.
Number 5 needs to be treated with the highest urgency possible and as a matter of economic and physical security for Canada. Because number 4 above has literally no hope if you aren’t going to trade resources for protection but if you are willing to, maybe you have a small slight hope of help (but probably not and therefore that’s why it should be our base assumption).
I’d say there’s actually a higher likelihood we get annexed than not as it stands today, but I don’t think that automatically means we are moved into concentration camps or anything like that. Prob depends on how we react, if we fight them that’s prob bad news if we don’t we may be able to live under their country peacefully.
I think Canadians justifications over time for killing our industries, economic competitiveness, and reduced productivity will ultimately be what does us in. Amazingly you actually still see people on this website still caring more about emissions than Canada’s survival. I think that’s still sadly the thought process of many Canadians but it’s going to cost us everything.
