Fact is, especially if we’re talking about making honest assessments, the Flames today are all above development and the future. That’s been front and center, and that’s a big reason why that competitiveness exists and why they are where they are.

Wolf isn’t playing every game and Coronato isn’t getting bumped to the first line because the Flames are desperate for a win above all else, it’s because those players earned it and testing them in bigger roles is part of good development.

I don’t think there’s any honour in throwing in the towel and just going through the motions for two months while you cycle young players in for a taste regardless of what the player or the team needs.
