I have the benefit of having an English teacher for a mother. I know the difference between them all very well. Lucky me :P
There is no excuse for screwing up "they're" though, at least not in my mind. It's a contraction. If you can replace the word you're using with they are, then you should use they're.
What really gets me is how the fata you use colon's and semi colons. I've got them sort of figured out, but I'll be damned if I don't screw it up nine times out of ten.
Oh, and I just thought of another thing. It's not 80's or 90's. It's 80s and 90s.
