Ya Conroy has a fairly transparent plan that he has not deviated from and I don’t think anyone should be worried he will deviate from
1) do not let assets walk for free. He sets a price for UFAs that he wants to sign and if he cannot sign then he trades them. When he trades them he always trades them for younger assets or picks.
2) move players who are under contract but have other players in the system ready to take their spot. He did this with Markstrom and Mangiapane. When he moves those players he picks up younger players or picks.
3) try to weaponize his cap space to get younger assets. Everyone assumed he was doing this with Mantha until he got hurt and he has said he will take on cap hit as a third party for a draft pick.
Conroy has never made a trade that seemed to indicate that he is not focused on getting younger and accumulating draft picks. I doubt that strategy changes anytime soon. I personally expect he will trade Coleman sometime during his contract due to point 2 above where one or more of the wingers in the system make Coleman redundant. Doubt it happens until the final year of his contract though.
