Face value (which is what the Oilers would have made) for the cheapest seats for the Final was $300, up to $1600 for the most-expensive seats. If the average was $600, that's over $11 million per game.
That's just for the tickets. Add on overpriced beer/food/merchandise, and it's a lot more. |
The league takes a big percentage of playoff gate receipts right off the top – I have read 30 to 50 percent – and puts that money into revenue sharing.
