Oh, that was several years ago. I probably would have put in an extra $10-20K to get something nicer than the Tesla if possible, and that was also the insanity time when the Ioniq (also no thank you) could almost hit $100K or something? My wife was so upset I'd constantly burst out laughing when she'd say, "Our next vehicle, let's get something fancy, like a Tesla." I'm interested in FSD, but by the time I'm looking, I'm sure other brands will have their own take on FSD, or a smart cruise control that addresses the level of "FSD" I need.
Right now, I'd want a PHEV. I'm not buying a BEV unless it's stupidly underpriced. The way I use vehicles, I'm going to get into trouble with a BEV. I already see my buddy from Cochrane basically have to schedule in supercharging or hanging out at a Calgary buddy's place for a bit of a top up when they come to town (cold snaps/heating eating up the range).
Maybe I'd get a Lightning and roll it into an early mid life crisis or something, and based on some recent trends, I could see Lightnings suddenly drop in value in the next few years. But seriously, my next vehicle is either a dirt cheap whatever is available, or more likely a half decent PHEV.
Splurging... give me a PHEV van with AWD with the power to push 7-8 people into their seats and pass strugglers on the highway with ease... Top up gas for them road trips. Bad ass infotainment system... Oh yeah. I'd drive that bad ass bus.
