Yeah...this is his 4th full season now and that one season is such an anomaly mostly based on his goal scoring.
31 goals on 14.7% shooting percentage in 81 games that season.
41 goals on 8.5% shooting percentage in the 210 other games in his career.
His passing is much more consistent but that one season was a bit inflated too.
21-22: 25 assists - 9.9% on ice shooting
22-23: 37 assists - 12.5% on ice shooting
23-24: 29 assists - 9.2% on ice shooting
24-25: 25 assist pace - 10.5% on ice shooting
To me he looks much more like a 20 goal, and 50 point player,. That is what all indications would be outside of one season where he rode a shooting percentage.
The real problem is he doesn't look like a play driver - and really that's the type of C that the Flames need.
He's broken 50% xGF% once in his career (22/23 at 50.04%) and his numbers relative to his team aren't great either.
20-21: 43.1% xGF, -4.0 Relative
21-22: 45.9% xGF, -0.94 Relative
22-23: 50.0% xGF, 0.96 relative
23-24: 49.6% xGF, 1.84 relative
24-25: 46.5% xGF, -2.69 relative
