If you go on Trumps word that could be one of a few things. At first it was to destabilize the economy and annex Canada, but now he is claiming that Canada is the access point for the fentanyl trade in the cities and won’t lift the tariffs until the crisis goes away.
What’s important here is that you can’t trust anything he says. And to his statement of “if they retaliate we will increase tariffs” means we need a swift and aggressive response. What can’t the US produce domestically that they need from us? There’s 4 main things, crude oil, potash, water, and electricity. Export tariff the hell out of those and threaten to join BRICS.
The worst thing to do is back down to a bully.
