Trading Pettersson would have been Vancouvers version of the Phaneuf trade.
In the end Miller is 32...Phaneuf was 24, so trading Pettersson for a bunch of "pieces" would have been more like the Phaneuf deal.
Similar situation but it almost feels a bit like the opposite. Flames traded the 24 year old that wasn't living up to a big contract and kept the 30 and 32 year olds in Regehr and Iginla.
Canucks traded the 32 year old, but are keeping the 26 year old not living up to the huge contract.
