TBH if this wasn't Vancouver making this trade right after making an underwhelming trade to get rid of Miller it wouldn't be that bad.
They dump the Desharnais and Heinen deals as they haven't really worked out for them and which have one more year left on them ($4.25M combined)
Bring in a legitimate top 4 dman (who is a bit underrated) in Pettersson and a bottom 6 guy that I kind of like in O'Connor.

And it really costs a 1st to do those things, that's not the worst. I thought that with a lack of dmen on the market this year Pettersson might get a 1st on his own.
But the optics of the whole thing really make this a head scratcher for Vancouver since they seem set on trying to make a push this year.
I guess if they re-sign M. Pettersson it maybe okay but giving up a potential protected first next year is risky.
