So I'm dealing with an awful case of Strep Throat, and I'm absolutely miserable, and I started watching some of the old Raws on NetFlix, and stumble across one from July 1994.
The opening match was the famous Bret vs 123 Kid. The match started with the almost absurd as The Anvil and Owen came down to the right and started insulting Bret. The hurtful comments bought a tear to Bret's eyes as his brother called him a scardy Cat and Anvil made chicken clucking noises. BTW, Anvil was such a treat. The match itself was a 5 star match, it had everything two great workers working off of each other, and a amazingly high level of story telling for a non feud match. Bret won the match but noticed the kids foot was on the rope, and stated he was no scardy cat and refused to win that way, and the match was restarted. 123 kid took over and it took a mistake, he came off of the top at Bret who neatly turned it into a sharp shooter and the Kid tapped out. Bret then made sure the Kid was ok and they showed each other respect.
The next match had Kona Crush (The late crazy person Brian Adams) versus some jobber named Matt Hardy (yup), who's gimmick was to get the fans to chant USA to enrage Crush a Hawaiian. Crush showed no mercy to the youngster caving his skull in with a super kick. Hardy got zero offence in.
Then we had a special Kings Court where Lawler went to the offices of Ted Dibiase, where the subject was that the people that worked for him were completely incompetent idiots.
The next match had Razor Ramon against one of the best jobbers in the game in Barry Horowitz, who was actually a very good territory wrestler. Scott Hall showed a lot of versatility, and beat the jobber with a small package after bashing him around the ring for 5 minutes.
The final match or main event had Irwin R Schyster doing a tax audit on poor Ray Hudson, who between 1992 and 1997 appeared in over 200 matches mostly looking up at the ceiling and being paid in hot dogs and tang. But he did appear as the Black Scorpion in WCW.
The highlight this episode beyond the Bret and Kid match, was the commentary team of Jim Ross and Randy Savage, who treated a a super kick to Matt Hardy's head like a soccer goal screaming GOAL for about 2 minutes.
