I don't think it's a bad trade, I just think it's a high risk high reward trade, which is a fine strategy IMO.

With the way the cap is rising, and the expectation that some teams will have internal caps, cap space now has little value with respect to taking on contracts.
However, cap space always has value, with respect to getting more players to improve your team. That's what Conroy should be doing with it. Oh wait...
