Dmen who are asked to play the toughest minutes on bad teams are always undervalued, and that's been his role for Buffalo. Guys are also rarely asked to play that type of role when they are under 25, but Samuelsson has being doing that.
He provides nothing offensively but with the offensive RH dmen this team has they need a stable LH guy that helps them in their own zone.

I don't see it. Offensively or not, I don't see him doing much more than the guys we have on our team, or the effective kids we have on the farm team. "Slightly above water defensively" isn't much use when you provide nothing on the other end of the ice.
He is a JAG and not a great one, in my opinion.
