This is the kind of deal the Flames can afford to make, they have a number of prospects on LW so a player like Pelletier will have to move out at some point. I doubt either of these guys add much value after a couple of years, but given the prospect barn the Flames are constructing they can afford to make some deals that meet short term needs.
I really liked Pelletier but in no way does he shape up to be the best player in the deal in the long run. He’s got a great work ethic and attitude, and he’s smart. But his skill isn’t there.
