The veteran 6 on this team make up 6 of their top 8 scorers and it is tough to say this team is for sure going to be better when many of their top players are past their prime.
Flames have been a frustrating bunch over the last decade where they often miss expectations by a sizable amount one way or the other. When was the last time this team lived up to the hype? 2016 when many had them regressing after their surprise run of 2015?

2016 bottom 5
2017 bounce back to the playoffs
2018 miss playoffs after making big adds the previous off season
2019 win the division and finish 1st in the west
2020 back on the bubble
2021 on the wrong side of the bubble (we’re a favorite in the Canadian division)
2022 win the division
2023 miss playoffs (many had them as a contender)
2024 bottom 10 (many had them bouncing back)
2025 on the bubble (many had them bottom 5)
