Sportsnet got it right when the replaced him back in 2013. Say what you will about Strombo, but the show was fresh and interesting to watch back then. I remember when the Flames were the Comeback Kids in 2014 and Sportsnet had a sit-down show with Strombo and the panel after all the postgame stuff/After Hours was over (I know Friedman and Kypreos were on that panel) and it was a fantastic show. It was really fun to watch after a Flames playoff win. You could tell it was off the cuff and the guys were actually enjoying themselves. Maybe Strombo wasn't the long term solution but it was something new, fresh and exciting.
Then some curmudgeon's complained, someone panicked, and here came Ron to "save" the day. The Sportsnet product has suffered ever since. But I'm sure someone out there enjoys all the pontificating and the endless Ron's Poems segments.
