If I wanted to build a 4 team mini tournament of NHL players, I'd use the divisions as the teams entering. A cabal of the head coaches from each division could select the players to make the team. The catch being, that a coach could not select players from their own team and would each have to select 3 players from their divisional rivals. They could have a random lottery to decide the order.
Now I would watch something like that. Then have a really good prize for the players that win so that they actually play a little hard.

Nah, this will be actual hockey at the highest level...players are gonna go hard for their countries Vs. playing for some random division team ect.
Canada cup was never a big deal until it started and things heated up
