I don't think he should have been on waivers. Flames just got lucky that another GM didn't take him.

He was awful in camp.
I think it's fair to ask if he finds his game if he's getting few minutes up with the big club and in and out of the lineup.
There was luck for sure. But they took a calculated risk and now they have a good player. It seems odd to criticize how it was handled when it worked out.
It's similar to those that use Wolf's strong performance to argue that the Flames were holding him back.
Of course yes it was true that if one team had claimed him, they would have lost the player. But again, they took a calculated risk and they were right.
