Yeah. I think I would prefer Cozens as well for these same reasons. The risk with him is also lower because the acquisition cost would be lower and his cap hit (while bad for what he brings currently) isn’t as high as Pettersson or Rantanen.

A Cozens trade is just so difficult for the flames because any vets they would want for him would not waive their NTC to go there and Buffalo does not want picks. I think the only way they could get Cozens is through a 3 team trade where the 3rd team wants picks but has NHL players that they can trade to Buffalo. Even then, Buffalo is at the top of everyone’s no trade list so it’s likely any teams’ quality players will not go there.
