Regarding Tocchet being on an option year after this one, he is a Rutherford guy, so that will also be interesting to see what not only Tocchet chooses to do, but what Rutherford would want to do with Tocchet. Hughes is on record saying that Tocchet is the best coach he's every played for, so there's that to consider as well. If Tocchet doesn't return next season, there will be plenty of interest out there I would have to think, so he probably isn't worried and it'll come down more to if the team can turn things around this season or not, I think.

I have a feeling he "was" a Tocchet guy.
I don't have inside knowledge but from the outside I can't see how that relationship wouldn't be strained.
He got benched...the next day he's taking a leave of absence (and let's be honest do either Tocchet or Rutherford feel like progressive types that would be okay with a player taking a leave of absence when they aren't hurt)...returns from that and has been benched a couple times in games since by the coach.
