Bettman has overseen a tremendous rise in franchise values and for that he will be lauded. Hard to know how much credit to give him since while that wealth creation for the owners is impressive, it lags the other pro sports on a percentage basis. The continued explosion of pro sports is a classic case of a rising tide lifting all boats.
I’m not sure he is going to be studied in business schools frankly, that’s giving him too much credit. But he didn’t screw it up and sometimes that is not all you need to in business to be successful.
