Just from the eye test, I'd say Rantanen is a pretty big star in his own right. He always kills it at international tournaments, away from MacKinnon, too. On top of that he's a big guy, even though he doesn't play an especially physical game. A first line of:
Huberdeau-Kadri-Rantannen
Could be great. Rantanen seems like he has a similar skillset to the players that had success with Huberdeau in Florida.

I love Rantanen, but that would mean the Flames would have ~$24m going to declining 35+ year olds in 2030. No thanks. Stay the course.
I also doubt he leaves Colorado. They've got room to re-sign him at Draisaitl dollars, especially with an increasing cap. It's just negotiations.
